or vote to keep any or all of the old classic game tokens (thimble, old school race car, top hat, Scottie dog, wheelbarrow, shoe, battleship, cat...sorry, no more iron, man on horse, cannon/howitzer, money bag, or train).

Select from 50 possible choices (including tyrannosaurus rex, turtle, horse (no rider), modern cars, various aircraft and seacraft, household appliances, a loaf of sliced bread, bunny slipper, and other tokens) until January 31, 2017.  The top 8 vote-getting tokens will be added with the 8 classic tokens for the 16 token "Monopoly Token Madness" set.

I voted to keep the dog, the old race car, and top hat...and voted for the penguin, rubber duck, rabbit, bathtub, and sunglasses.
This is more for those who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960s to the 1980s.  King Norman's local tv kids show was before my time...but I was a fan of his toy stores that he opened around the Bay Area.  Lots of great memories and cool toy purchases.  RIP King.

I'm a fan of the Urusei Yatsura ("Those Annoying Aliens") anime that aired in Japan from 1981 to 1986 for a total of 195 half hours (Season 1 had two stories in each half hour show and the episodes from 1982 to 1986 were half hour in length), 10 original video episodes, and 6 theatrical movies.  The setting was a similar small suburban town, not unlike Green Meadow in the Get Along Gang, named Tomobiki.  The premise had alien invaders invading Earth starting at Tomobiki town...the challenge was Earth had to find a suitable challenger to play a game of tag with a teenaged alien princess named Lum.  The unfortunate challenger was Ataru Moroboshi, a girl chasing goof off.  After an ingenious not-for-the-kiddies move, Ataru wins the game of tag and the aliens halt their invasion.  Lum mistakes something Ataru utters in victory as a marriage proposal and stays on Earth as Ataru's fiancé while Ataru is reluctant to commit. The stories in the series has Lum living on Earth in Ataru's bedroom closet and attending high school with Ataru while Ataru tries to continue his girl chasing ways and involving the Earth friends and alien friends in their circle.  Ataru is not a malicious sort and gradually becomes a sympathetic and caring character but finds himself a magnet for wide-scale trouble (quite like a naïve Bingo Beaver of the Get Along Gang).  Lum can get clingy to Ataru and has strong electric shocks to administer when she is angry for comic effect and have a lot of alien friends and enemies paying a visit to Tomobiki and causing slapstick disaster as well.  The high school students in Tomobiki accept Lum as one of their own and delights in seeing Lum use her alien powers versus the not-too-understanding school administration.

The music for the series and movie series were excellent.  The best example is the soundtrack to the second UY movie "Beautiful Dreamer" capturing everything from funny comedy, serious drama, dream-like visions, and quiet thoughts... Imagine small town living with a gang of friends...some not from this world...and the background music to match the varied mood:

Very nice ensemble cast taking a look at the itch to perform on a stage from various viewpoints from the harried housewife pig, the teen porcupine rocker, the gorilla who wants to get out of his dad's criminal gang, a Sinatra-attitude mouse, the shy elephant girl with the gift of voice, and the koala wanna-be showman.

Predictable concept (putting on a show and saving a doomed venue) but a funny story with great voice acting, singing, and characters...I really liked Meena the elephant, Johnny the gorilla and Ash the porcupine who resembles a familiar looking porcupine I draw often.  Mike the Rat Pack mouse is unlikable but he is sympathetic when he respects the other performers later.   Would be nice to learn what happened to the characters after the singing is done, though. The ending is abrupt.

Hi Arty. You're probably busy now, but if you possibly have the time, I am wondering:

There are these two new Get Along Gang related pics on DeviantART, and I am curious about how you feel/what do you think about them:

I don't mind shrinking or giant sized growing characters since they look more or less the same when normal sized.  Not a fan of really deformed character art like expansion, flattening, or manga/anime chibi art too much.

I don't mind a gag set-up leading up to an expansion or flattening scene or a varied build up and an after result story for a shrinking or growing giant character but seeing the same fetish thing over and over by the same artist screams "serious unhealthy obsession" more than "creative expression".

I see what you chose. I was thinking of the other six members in different positions if they were on the other side.

Saw "Sing"...nicely written movie with a good ensemble cast.  It showcases the need to perform from various viewpoints from the busy housewife, the teen rocker, the Sinatra attitude mouse, the gorilla wanting to get out of a criminal lifestyle...and the koala wanna-be showman.

Ash the porcupine resembles Portia Porcupine so already she is a favorite character.

Thank you.  I'm a fan of shrinking themes...preferably having depicting the tiny people as sympathetic underdogs.
